NORTH WOODS CONSERVANCY
EARL K DORE WOODLAND

The Dore Woods (DW) contains 80 acres of oak and maple hardwood forest and the botanically diverse Taylor Creek gorge.  The DW is open to the public during daylight hours every day of the year.  Entry to the DW is free.  Fires, camping, and motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Access to the Dore Woods is via the Gratiot River North trail-head parking area and trail easement at the end of Tanskanen Road.  Please Click Here for printable map and directions in Adobe Acrobat format.

The Earl K. Dore Woodland was donated to the NWC in 1993 by the Griffith Family of Calumet to honor their friend and mentor, shown at left in his California native plant garden.  Dr. Dore’s conservation ethic and lifelong love of learning were a joy and inspiration.
